What does the Bible say about divorce?
If you read the words of Jesus, it is clear that divorce is not an option except in the cases of marital infidelity (Matthew 19:8-9). A wedding is a pledge – till death do us part, the two become one flesh (Mark 10:6-9). You make a word to God and the witnesses there – this is the most ultimate pledge you can make. Furthermore, remarriage is not condoned in the Bible. Jesus says that marrying a divorced woman is committing adultery. In Jesus’ day, polygamy was ok (men having more than one wife), making it seem that guys can get remarried, but girls cannot.
